“At Lubbock Auto Auction, our mission is to provide excellent service in an honest and ethical atmosphere.” – Charles “Tadpole” Furr

The Oldest Independent Auction In Texas.

Lubbock Auto Auction (LAA) was established in 1946 by Clyde and Jack McLaughlin, bringing their experience of sourcing vehicles from the East to serve dealers in West Texas. Located in Lubbock—known as the “Hub of the Plains”—the auction quickly became a central marketplace for dealers in the region.

In 1952, Ray Furr joined the business and partnered with Joe Fralin, who served as general manager and helped grow the auction. After a fire destroyed the original facility in 1971, operations continued under a circus tent while a new, modern auction was built—showcasing the resilience and dedication behind LAA.

Following Joe Fralin’s passing in 1982, Charles Furr joined ownership, and the Furr family continues to operate the auction today. Built on a foundation of honest, ethical business practices, LAA has earned the trust of dealers, financial institutions, and consignors across the country.

Today, that same commitment continues as dealers gather every Thursday—rain or shine—to buy, sell, and do business at Lubbock Auto Auction.
